Liverpool stars Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita could miss up to six Reds matches next season thanks to the Africa Cup of Nations which has a new schedule.
A couple of weeks ago the tournament was once again thrown into uncertainty over when it would start and where it would go ahead but, as per the Mirror, new dates have been announced for the competition.
Indeed, it will now start on January 9 and run through to February 6 which, if their countries go deep into the competition, could mean the trio are missing for up to six games for Liverpool at a crucial time of the season:
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Of course, other clubs have to contend with this issue as well but few, if any, look set to be hit as hard when it comes to their attacking options leaving.
Mane and Salah are massively important to the Reds and will be again next season, so it’s clear we need options available for if and when they leave for the competition.
Diogo Jota is one player that will be able to step up but there’s a good case to suggest another attacking player needs to be signed this summer.
