FSG-owned Liverpool are tracking Girondins de Bordeaux’s promising centre back Mathys Angély (17), who is set to be available for free following the club’s bankruptcy, reveals Foot Mercato.

With Bordeaux having officially filed for bankruptcy, all players from the first team and academy are set to be released for their contracts. Hence, some good opportunities are arising for a club that saw players such as Aurélien Tchouaméni (24) and Jules Koundé (25) coming through the academy in recent years. According to Foot Mercato, Angély has a lot of suitors queueing up. The 17-year-old has already made his professional debut in Ligue 2, taking part in five games with Les Girondins last season.

As the France U17 is set to be available for free, multiple clubs are trying to convince Angély to pursue his development with them. The French outlet reports that FSG-owned Liverpool targeted the centre back before he renewed his contract until 2028, just days before Bordeaux filed for bankruptcy. With the player now available on a free, the Reds could reignite their interest in one of Bordeaux’s most sought-after players.
