The Daily Mail reports that Al-Hilal may make an offer for Nunez today. It's the initial transfer deadline ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup - a tournament the Saudi side are keen to leave a mark on.
It's left them searching for a new forward, with Victor Osimhen a real target. That move has failed thus far, however, leaving them to consider Nunez and Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres.
Liverpool are fully aware of the situation and will price their player accordingly. Al-Hilal are up against the clock here, after all, and so the Reds will chase more than the £70m offered in January.
But there are a few moving parts here. Al-Hilal have other targets that they might prefer, while there's no guarantee that Nunez still wants the move.
He did back in January, as we reported, but strong interest from Atletico Madrid is said to have turned his head. Nunez may well prefer to make a move to a major European club.
At the same time, there's an awful lot of money on offer to whoever accepts Al-Hilal's bid. Both for club and player.
The deadline is today and so things may move quickly. Watch this space as there will be movement either way - either Nunez heads to Al-Hilal or Liverpool chalk one major potential suitor off the list.
