Liverpool get back to winning ways at Anfield

Scorers: Fabinho 44′, Oxlade-Chamberlain 69′, Minamino 74′.

Liverpool picked up their first win in four Premier League games as they moved back up to second place in the table, closing the gap on leaders Manchester City to 11 points.

Virgil van Dijk came close midway through tie first half when Trent Alexander-Arnold’s corner fell into his path at the back post but the Dutchman’s effort was denied by the leg of Brentford goalkeeper Álvaro Fernández on the line.

Ivan Toney then flashed a shot just wide of Alisson Becker’s goal before the hosts finally found their breakthrough. Another Alexander-Arnold found it’s target, and this time it was Fabinho who got on to the end of it at the back post to head home.

Thomas Frank’s men weren’t out of the game though and almost equalised in the 59th minute when Bryan Mbuemo was found free at the edge of the area but his shot flew wide with Alisson beaten.

Liverpool put the game beyond doubt 10 minutes later. Andrew Robertson’s perfect cross was nodded in by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to double their advantage.

Takumi Minamino then came off the bench to score his second league goal of the season, tapping in from six yards out after Roberto Firmino had pick-pocketed the Brentford defence.

Leeds win five-goal thriller to move clear of drop

Scorers: Bowen 34′, Fornals 52′.; Harrison 10′, 37′, 60′.

Jack Harrison scored a hat-trick as Leeds United picked up a huge win in their battle for survival in a five-goal thriller at the London Stadium.

Harrison gave the visitors the lead in the 10th minute after Mateusz Klich’s low shot was parried into the path of Adam Forshaw who laid it off to the winger to drill into the bottom corner.

But the in-form Jarrod Bowen pulled West Ham level when he headed Aaron Cresswell’s corner past Illan Meslier.

Three minutes later and Leeds were ahead again when Luke Ayling flicked a corner to the back post where Harrison was present to poke home.

David Moyes’ side did not go down without a fight and seven minutes into the second half they were level again. Michail Antonio’s stray touch landed at the feet of Pablo Fornals, who cut inside two Leeds defenders before slotting into the bottom corner.

However, Marcelo Bielsa’s side found a way to get back in front and Harrison completed his hat-trick in the 60th minute to win the game for his team.

Raphinha’s pass played the 25-year-old through on goal and he lofted the ball over the on-rushing Łukasz Fabiański to complete a stunning victory for Leeds who move above Everton up to 15th and nine points clear of the relegation zone.
