Liverpool’s injury issues show no signs of slowing down, with defensive duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joël Matip now ruled out of action.

According to the Athletic, the right-back will miss two weeks of action due to the ankle injury he sustained against Arsenal.

He is set to be replaced in that position by Joe Gomez, with summer signing Calvin Ramsay yet to make a competitive appearance following his arrival from Aberdeen.

Centre-back Matip is also set to miss two to three weeks with a calf issue and is set to be deputised by Ibrahima Konaté, who is yet to start this season.

The Frenchman returned to action last weekend after two months on the sidelines himself, something which has been a recurring issue for Liverpool of late.

It had already been confirmed that Luis Díaz will be unavailable until after the World Cup, while midfielders Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keïta and Arthur Melo are all currently out injured.

There is some good news on the fitness front though with Andy Robertson now back in training after a month out, although it is unclear if Jürgen Klopp will risk him against Rangers in midweek or save him for the weekend clash with Manchester City.
