Liverpool defender Niamh Fahey has signed a new contract with the club ahead of the 2024/2025 campaign.

The Reds announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.

The 36-year-old Republic of Ireland international centre-back joined Liverpool from French club Bordeaux in summer 2018. Fahey has gone on to make more than 100 appearances for The Reds in all competitions. The defender was a member of the Liverpool side which won the Barclays Women’s Championship title in 2021/2022 and she played a part in the club’s fourth-place finish in last season’s Barclays Women’s Super League.

Fahey’s experience remains hugely important to Liverpool both on and off the pitch and the club have agreed to retain her services for an extended period.

After signing on again with The Reds, Fahey said “It’s fantastic. I’m absolutely delighted to have another season in red. I’m really enjoying my time here with the club and after a brilliant season last season, I’m looking forward to pushing on with the team.

“It’s special for me to have the Liver bird on my chest. It’s still very much surreal because I absolutely love this club. Getting to play in this shirt is something I don’t take for granted, so I’m absolutely delighted to have another year in red.”

Fahey is the fourth player to sign a new contract with Liverpool this summer.
