Liverpool have shown their ability to produce fantastic young players this season but not every Anfield starlet is destined for greatness in a red shirt.

The Reds' talented academy continues to produce and nurture some of football's brightest talents, but playing for the club at youth level is no guarantee of a pathway into the first team.

That has resulted in plenty of the club's sharpest prospects being sold after not quite making the cut on Merseyside, including former goalkeeper Kamil Grabara.

The Polish stopper arrived at Liverpool for £250,000 aged 16 having impressed with Ruch Chorzow, eventually going on two separate loan spells to Aarhus GF and one to Huddersfield Town to facilitate his development.

However, there was no route into the senior squad for Grabara, who was sold to Copenhagen for £3m in 2021. He quickly shone in Denmark and has now secured an £11.5m move to Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg this summer.

But former Real Madrid and Everton midfielder Thomas Gravesen believes the sky is the limit for the 25-year-old goalkeeper, tipping him for a move to a bigger club like Bayern Munich in the near future.

KAMIL GRABARA BACKED BY THOMAS GRAVESEN

Speaking to Tipsbladet, Gravesen revealed just how highly he rated Grabara, suggesting that he could be off to an even bigger club than Wolfsburg soon.

"Wolfsburg is not the final destination for Kamil Grabara," said the former Denmark international. "Wolfsburg is the next stepping stone in his career. If he comes to Wolfsburg and underperforms, the stepping stone will be very small.

"But if he comes to Wolfsburg and performs as he has done at FC Copenhagen in the first two years, then Wolfsburg is just the next stepping stone.

"Then, it might be Bayern Munich or the Premier League. A football player never thinks that he has reached the end of the road."

Grabara has put in some immense displays for Copenhagen in the Champions League since his switch, including impressive performances against the Manchester clubs in recent years.

With top quality goalkeepers always at a premium, Liverpool may regret selling Grabara for so cheap as he heads to Germany's top tier.
