Liverpool complete signing of Danish midfielder Lundgaard | OneFootball

Liverpool have completed the signing of Danish midfielder Sofie Lundgaard from Fortuna Hjørring.

The Reds announced the transfer this afternoon via an update on their official club website.

Lundgaard joins Liverpool after spending the last three years with Fortuna Hjørring. She won the Elitedivisionen title with her former club along with the Danish Women’s Cup. The midfielder also represented Fortuna Hjørring in the early rounds of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

On the international stage, Lundgaard has represented Denmark at various youth levels up to and including Under-19 level.

The player is an exciting young talent who will be keen to impress with her new club in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

After completing her move to Liverpool, Lundgaard said “I’m excited, it’s been a pleasure coming here and I’m looking forward to meeting all the girls, getting started and winning some football games.

“I’ve heard a lot of times that this group is a good group and this is a club with ambitions, and I’m looking forward to being a part of it.

“When I spoke with Russ (Fraser) and Matt (Beard), I had no doubt that this club was a good option for me.”

Lundgaard has been handed the squad number 15 by Liverpool and is manager Matt Beard’s second January transfer window addition.
