Liverpool are set to close the signing of Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, with the 23-year-old set to be immediately loaned back to Los Che for the remainder of the season. As it turns out, he’s not the only young goalkeeper in La Liga that they are keeping an eye on.

According to MD, Joan Garcia is also on Liverpool’s watchlist. Espanyol’s no.1 is already attracting strong interest from Arsenal, who are planning to make a move before the summer transfer window closes, provided that they are able to secure an exit for their current backup ‘keeper, Aaron Ramsdale.

It’s possible that if Liverpool were to pursue Garcia seriously, they’d look to implement a similar deal to the one that is almost in place for Mamardashvili. The two ‘keepers are seen as fantastic options for the future.

In Garcia’s case, Espanyol have no plans to sell this close to the transfer window closing. The only way a deal would be completed is if any club were to activate his release clause, which is valued at €30m.
