Liverpool are ready to make a move for Giovanni Leoni after showing interest throughout the summer. The Reds are looking to get younger in the back and have laid eyes on the Italian talent, Mediaset reports.
The Ducali have been able to resist any approach, also because the center-back wasn’t necessarily eager to leave. However, the right bid will easily change the scenario. The Premier League champions will have an easier time matching their request than the Serie A powerhouses, which are keen but haven’t come close to the asking price.
Bournemouth offered €30M plus add-ons earlier in the summer and were rebuffed. Liverpool will have to tender more than that to nab Leoni, but a €40M package could do the trick.
Milan liked the talent, but, when push came to shove after selling Malick Thiaw, they elected to spend half as much for Koni De Winter. Inter have been quietly after the defender for months, but they need a profitable exit to really target him. Juventus have lingered in the picture but are in the same spot as the Nerazzurri.
According to Fabrizio Romano (via SOSFanta), the Reds could decide to sign both Marc Guehi and the starlet. They haven’t considered purchasing the latter and leaving him on loan to Parma to mature at this point.
It’d be a shame for Serie A to lose such a gem. He’s one of the safest investments possible, but it might already be too late for the Peninsula’s top sides. It’s tough to resist such a prestigious call, but he has to weigh the risk of getting lost in the shuffle.
