There are certainly plenty of candidates.

Football fans in this continent are incredibly passionate. It’s a way of life. And we’re not just talking about the ‘Big 5’ leagues either.

Outside of England, Italy, Spain, Germany and France there are also big clubs with amazing support.

But back to the question, which stadium is the best when it comes to the atmosphere?

Well, 1sports1 have stuck its neck on the line and attempted to rank the top 15 in Europe.

To be fair, we think the ranking is pretty solid so wanted to share it with you. Disagree? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section on Facebook.

15. De Kuip – Feyenoord – Netherlands

Feyenoord may play third fiddle to Ajax and PSV but De Kuip generates some atmosphere.

14. Ibrox – Rangers – Scotland

Rangers fully deserve to make the list – although they may not be too impressed with the inclusion of another Scottish side. Ibrox is absolutely bouncing every home game and the atmosphere alone helped them reach the Europa League final last season.

13. Sukru Saracoglu Stadium – Fenerbahce – Turkey

The first of three entries from Turkey which goes some way to explain the support in the Super Lig. Fenerbahce have been playing in the same stadium since 1908.

12. Stade Geoffroy-Guichard – Saint-Etienne – France

Saint-Etienne have actually been relegated to Ligue 2 but they’re still some of the most passionate fans in France. They have been playing at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard since 1930.

11. Anfield – Liverpool – England

The Anfield atmosphere is one that divides opinion. There are times when it can be quieter during Premier League games against lowly opposition. But on a European night – or a big Premier League game – it’s absolutely rocking.

10. Elland Road – Leeds United – England

Leeds fans are among the most passionate – and loudest – in Europe. No matter what has happened to the club down the years, you can bet that Elland Road will be full and it’ll be noisy. The 37,000 is often bouncing during Premier League games.

9. San Mames – Athletic Bilbao – Spain

Bilbao commit to only playing Basque players and that is reflected in the passionate local support inside the 53,331 stadium – the seventh-largest stadium in Spain.

8. St. James Park – Newcastle United – England

The best atmosphere in the Premier League. We saw St. James Park at its very best towards the end of last season as Newcastle picked up important victories. It’s only going to get louder the more successful they become.

7. Diego Armando Maradona Stadium – Napoli – Italy

Formally the Stadio San Paolo, Napoli have been playing in the same ground since 1959. Considering the distance the fans sit from the pitch, Napoli fans have made the stadium a very intimidating place to visit.

6. Vodafone Park – Besiktas – Turkey

The Vodafone Park is a new stadium, built in 2016. But for a modern arena, it’s got an incredible atmosphere with 42,590 Besiktas fans making a ridiculous noise during matches.

5. Karaiskakis Stadium – Olympiacos – Greece

Olympiacos may not be quite the team they once were on the European stage but their support hasn’t wavered. You can expect flares and a whole lot of noise when you visit the Karaiskakis Stadium.

4. Rajko Mitic Stadium – Red Star Belgrade – Serbia

Big clubs dread being drawn against Red Star Belgrade in European competitions – just ask Liverpool. The player’s tunnel is horrifying and it only gets scarier when you walk out onto the pitch.

3. Nef Stadyumu – Galatasaray – Turkey

Almost half of Turkish football fans support Galatasaray and it’s fair to say they’re a passionate bunch!

2. Celtic Park – Celtic – Scotland

We witnessed Celtic Park at its very best during their recent Champions League clash against Real Madrid. During a European night or an Old Firm derby, the 60,411 capacity stadium is about as loud as it gets.

1. Signal Iduna Park – Borussia Dortmund – Germany

The greatest atmosphere in Europe belongs to Borussia Dortmund. During Bundesliga matches, the Signal Iduna Park can fit more than 80,000 fans inside. The ‘Yellow Wall’ behind the goal can hold 25,000 supporters and is the largest free-standing grandstand in Europe. It is a sight to behold.
