Liverpool target Jude Bellingham is ‘the man of the moment’ after making a major impact at the World Cup and would be a statement signing at Anfield, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Borussia Dortmund star, who is being monitored by Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, is currently in Qatar with England.

Liverpool transfer news – Jude Bellingham

According to Sky Sports, Liverpool are among the frontrunners to sign Bellingham in 2023, when Dortmund are open to sanctioning his departure.

The report suggests Manchester City and Real Madrid are also in the hunt for the central midfielder’s signature, but Manchester United are now out of the race.

Although Real Madrid are eager to lure Bellingham to La Liga, they are not willing to spend more than £108million.

That could make it difficult for them to beat the likes of Liverpool to the teenager’s services as Dortmund value their prised asset at close to £130million.

Bellingham went into the World Cup having scored nine goals and registered a further three assists in 22 appearances this season.

What has Dean Jones said about Bellingham?

Jones understands that Bellingham is sought-after and has made a lasting impression in Qatar, just weeks before the January transfer window opens for business.

The journalist has heard comparisons being made with Paul Gascoigne, which emphasises how well he has performed on the sport’s biggest stage.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “The hype around Bellingham is huge right now.

“I’ve seen people saying he’s having an even bigger impact at this World Cup than Gazza had at Italia 90, so whoever gets him is getting the man of the moment.”

How has Bellingham performed at the World Cup?

As per Transfermarkt, Bellingham has scored once and provided as many assists during England’s four clashes at the World Cup so far.

The 19-year-old has been handed an average match rating of 7.72 by WhoScored, a figure which is only bettered by Bukayo Saka among his Three Lions team-mates.

Sofascore statistics also show that Bellingham has 93 per cent pass accuracy and averaged 2.8 tackles per game as he has made it difficult for sides to break down Gareth Southgate’s side.

England are set to take on France on Saturday, where both sides will battle it out for a semi-final berth in Qatar.

There is no doubt that Bellingham will be named in Southgate’s starting line-up after making himself one of the first names on the team-sheet.
