Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp issues Szoboszlai injury update | OneFootball

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai will miss his side’s game against Greuther Furth today after rolling his ankle in training.

There were fears the 22-year-old attacking midfielder would be out for a while, but it is only a minor injury.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp did not play him today as a precautionary measure, with the Premier League kicking off in less than three weeks.

Klopp said: “He rolled his ankle slightly in training. If today was a Premier League game, then he could play, but we take no risks.”

Szoboszlai was signed from RB Leipzig for around £60 million after a stellar season in Germany, where he helped Die Roten Bullen secure a third-place finish in the Bundesliga.

They won the DFB Pokal, and he scored in the final. The Hungarian international will look to establish himself and become an integral part of Liverpool.

However, with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho set to leave the club, Liverpool are still in the market for midfield reinforcements.

Fabinho is heading to Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad, while Henderson is joining Al-Ettifaq.

One possible addition is Crystal Palace holding midfielder Cheick Doucoure, who also has interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Southampton holding midfielder Romeo Lavia.
