Liverpool are interested in signing Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, according to Ekrem Konur.

The journalist has claimed on Twitter that the Reds are 'plotting a swoop' for the 23-year-old.

Luiz's contract expires in the summer of 2023. The Brazil international possesses a current market value of €35 million.

Luiz is a good footballer. The midfielder has been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 6.91 in the Premier League this season.

The aforementioned figure highlights that Luiz is capable of playing in England's top division of football.

Therefore, we would not be against Liverpool making a move for the Brazil international in the near future.

Also, the Reds are currently a midfielder short. Liverpool did not replace Gini Wijnaldum last summer.

The Dutchman joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer. Luiz, 23, would be a decent long-term replacement for Wijnaldum.

But, only time will tell if the Reds are genuinely interested in the talented midfielder.
