It is no secret that Liverpool’s activity in the transfer window this summer was limited and for the most part, severely underwhelming.

Having completed the period with two new signings in the form of Federico Chiesa from Juventus and Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, Reds fans can feel a little bit hard done by and left wanting more.

However, supporters can be a little more excited as it has been reported that Liverpool are linked with a world class winger looking to reinvigorate his career back in the Premier League.

Liverpool face duel for Sane

Liverpool have actually been linked to Leroy Sane multiple times before with the last rumour circulating in 2023 amidst speculation surrounding the future of Mohamed Salah.

The 28-year-old has previously shown his class and skill in the Premier League, having spent four years at Manchester City after the club signed him for £37m and scoring 25 league goals while winning multiple major trophies.

Sane, especially in that City super team was incredibly underrated and fell out of favour with Pep Guardiola who shipped him out to Bayern Munich where he has played his trade ever since.

A move back to England is now looking increasingly likely with Liverpool keeping an eye on his situation. However, CaughtOffside have further reported that the Reds face stiff competition for the German internationals' signature from Newcastle and Arsenal.

The chance to secure Sane is even more tasty through the fact he has only 10 months left on his current contract. This means that when the transfer window re-opens in January, Liverpool will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement for Leroy to join next summer on a free transfer.

Securing a player of his quality and depth would be priceless. Of course, with the ongoing contract situation involving Salah, the number 10 could be the perfect replacement for the Egyptian king. His prior experience would mean he could settle in a lot quicker and look to regain the form he displayed while at City.

His future remains uncertain, but Liverpool will be hoping that the talented winger wants to make his mark at Anfield.
