In a recent report, The Daily Mail mentioned that Liverpool are locked in a three-way battle for Brentford defender Nathan Collins. It is believed that the Reds are facing competition in the form of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in the race to land the Irish centre-back this summer.
Collins had an impressive campaign at Brentford recently as he was responsible for putting in a run of solid displays for them in the Premier League. The Republic of Ireland international made 42 appearances for the Bees last season, scoring two goals and earning five assists on all fronts.
The 24-year-old was a rock at the back and deserves credit for making 40 tackles, 77 blocks and 34 interceptions in the Premier League. He was even accurate when distributing possession from the back after completing 93.5% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via fbref.com).
Collins is under contract at the English club until the summer of 2029. Hence, Liverpool would have to launch a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting him this summer.

Collins is a tough-tackling defender who can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his side inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive and can use his strong 1.93m frame to win his fair share of duels in the air.
The Irish talent has already proven himself to be a consistent performer in the Premier League. He is a tidy passer of the ball as well and would be a great fit for Liverpool’s needs this summer.
We can expect Collins to bring more physicality to Arne Slot’s defence. He is good enough to serve as an ideal back-up to Ibrahima Konate and Virgil Van Dijk at the Merseyside club.
At 24, Collins has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for the Reds to consider in this transfer window. He will also help Liverpool compete across all fronts in the coming years. With all things considered, Collins would be a decent option for the Merseyside club to pursue before the end of this summer transfer period.
