In a recent report, El Nacional revealed that Liverpool are leading the chase for LOSC Lille midfielder Renato Sanches. It is believed that the Reds are now in pole position to secure the Portuguese midfield ace’s services after Barcelona decided to drop their interest in the player.

Sanches’ Impressive Run Of Form At Stade Pierre Mauroy

Sanches is having another impressive campaign at Lille as he has continued to catch the eye with some of his performances in French football over the past few months. The 24-year-old has made 16 appearances for the French club this season, netting one goal and grabbing two assists on all fronts.

The Portuguese sensation has given a good account of himself by averaging 1.2 tackles, 0.7 shots, 1.4 key passes and 2.7 dribbles per game in the Ligue 1. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from midfield based on his pass completion rate of 81.2% in league football (stats via whoscored).

What Will Sanches Bring To Liverpool?

Sanches doesn’t shy away from a tackle and can make life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park when is playing with confidence on the field. He can strike the ball with power and precision from range.

The Portugal international has also got the vision to play a killer pass in the attacking end of the field. Sanches is a tidy passer of the ball as well. He can even use his strength to make some powerful runs with the ball towards the opponent’s penalty box.

Sanches ticks all the right boxes in terms of what Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp expects from his midfielders. He will be an excellent acquisition for the Reds as he will bring some creativity and dynamism to the Merseyside club‘s midfield department.

At 24, Sanches’ prime years are ahead of him, so Klopp can expect to get the best out of him if he can get a deal done for the player at the end of this campaign. The Portuguese talent could serve as an ideal successor to James Milner, who is edging closer towards the end of his playing career at Anfield.
