Wharton has featured in 44 games this season, netting twice and providing six assists. He is averaging 2.6 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, and 1 clearance per game (stats via whoscored). He is a modern-day box-to-box midfielder, who is good at both defending and attacking.

The English midfielder stays calm on the ball and likes to break lines with his passes. He doesn’t shy away from tackling whenever required. He has the ability to emerge as an elite defensive midfielder with more guidance and experience.

A good pick for Liverpool

Adam Wharton’s immense potential hasn’t gone unnoticed as several European clubs are monitoring him. Liverpool have also registered their interest in signing the youngster as they look to bring a fresh midfielder in the summer transfer window.

Wharton’s arrival will add much-needed depth and quality to the midfield unit. It will allow the new manager, probably Arne Slot, to rotate and use players according to requirements. The 20-year-old can be a good long-term investment for the club.
