According to a report from the Express, Liverpool are interested in acquiring the signature of Gabri Veiga from Celta Vigo. The youngster has caught the eye after producing several influential displays in the middle of the park, which makes him a decent fit as the Reds are looking to overhaul their midfield department.

Veiga’s Impressive Campaign For Celta Vigo So Far This Season

Veiga has enjoyed a brilliant breakout campaign in La Liga as he has done well to establish himself as a key player for the Spanish club. He has found the back of the net on nine occasions and created three assists over 25 appearances this season.

The O Porrino-born talent has done well to anchor the midfield for the Spanish outfit as he has averaged 1.4 tackles, 1.9 shots, 0.8 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per game in the Spanish first division. He has also been tidy with his ball distribution after completing 79% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top flight (stats via whoscored).

The youngster’s contract at the Abanca-Balaídos stadium lasts until the summer of 2026, so the Merseyside club would have to make a lucrative offer in order to lure him to Anfield this summer.

Veiga is known for his technical ability, intelligence on the ball, and creative playmaking. His playstyle is characterized by his excellent dribbling skills, quick feet, and ability to create space for himself and his teammates. He is equally comfortable playing as a central attacking midfielder or on the wings, thanks to his versatility and tactical awareness.

The Spanish youngster is quick and agile and can change direction with ease, which makes Veiga difficult to mark. He also has excellent ball control and can use his body to shield the ball from defenders, giving him time to find a teammate in a better position.

The young talent has excellent vision and is able to pick out teammates with pinpoint accuracy. He is particularly effective at playing through balls, which can split open defences and create goal-scoring opportunities.

With all things considered, Jurgen Klopp has done well to identify him as a potential target this summer, so he should definitely move in for him at the end of this season. However, if the Spanish outfit decide to offer him a new contract before the Reds make a move, then it could be difficult for the English side to acquire his signature. Hence, Klopp would have to make contact with Veiga before his current employers decide to tie him down for a couple more seasons.
