Liverpool midfielder Thiago has tested positive for COVID-19, the club have confirmed.
The 29-year-old, who joined the club earlier this month from Bayern Munich, missed Monday night’s win over Arsenal.
He has shown minor symptoms of the virus but is reported to be in good health and is currently self-isolating at home.
“It is the choice of each individual whether they publicly reveal the outcome of a COVID-19 test,” club doctor Jim Moxon stated.
“We have followed all protocols to the letter and Thiago is OK.
“He’ll be self-isolating now per the guidelines and we hope he’ll be back with us soon.”
The Athletic report that Thiago’s self-isolation period is expected to be 10 days, meaning he could make his return against Everton in the derby on October 17.
The Spain international has appeared once so far for the Premier League champions, as a half-time substitute away to Chelsea.
