Liverpool have announced the news that they will play their home matches at the Totally Wicked Stadium in St Helens from next season.

The Reds announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning. It has been reported that the club have agreed a 10-year lease with St Helens RLFC.

The move sees Liverpool end their long-standing arrangement with Tranmere Rovers FC which has seen them play their home matches at Prenton Park.

The Totally Wicked Stadium is a modern sporting arena that has been purpose-built for St Helens RLFC and opened in 2011. The venue has a capacity of 18,000 and a pitch upgrade will allow both football and rugby league to be played on the surface from 2024/2025.

It has been reported that Liverpool will be given their own bespoke dressing room while the stadium will be revamped in the club’s branding for their home games.

The decision to move to St Helens was made in consultation with players, staff, fans via the club’s Supporters Board and fan surveys.

Commenting on the partnership, Liverpool manager Matt Beard said “This is the exciting next chapter on our journey and I’m absolutely delighted with this investment from the club.

“At the heart of this move are the two most important groups at the club; the players and the fans. The players will have a wonderful new pitch and facilities to enjoy, while the matchday experience for the supporters will be so much improved.

“We’ve built up a loyal following at Prenton Park and we look forward to welcoming them to St Helens along with hopefully opening up the women’s game to many new supporters as well.”

In addition to staging games in St Helens, Liverpool will also play some matches at Anfield with fixtures such as the Merseyside derby set to continue to attract high ticket demand.
