Harvey Elliott enjoyed a dream return as the midfielder scored in Liverpool’s 3-1 win against Cardiff City in the FA Cup.

The 18-year-old came off the bench to score Liverpool’s third goal, 147 days after he suffered a serious ankle injury against Leeds.

Elliott’s injury – a fracture dislocation of his left ankle – kept him out of action for five months, but he put a bow on Liverpool’s win with a fine finish in the 76th minute.

Diogo Jota and Takumi Minamino also got on the scoresheet as Jurgen Klopp’s side secured a meeting with Norwich City in the fifth round.

“Harvey and the medical department did an incredible job,” Klopp said about Elliott at full-time. “He is fearless.

“He dealt with his injury perfectly – he is back and it is really nice. The goal was a really touching moment. It’s cool.”

Elliott’s interview was class

Elliott also spoke to ITV and his interview was great.

The teenager thanked Liverpool’s medical team and his family for helping to get him back to full strength and vowed to kick on from here.

“It’s so hard to put into words at the moment – this is what I am in the team to do, to score and assist,” Elliott said. “Thankfully it’s came today in front of the fans after having a long time out. It’s my job at the end of the day.

“It’s a moment myself and my family will remember.

“One man most importantly was Joe Lewis at Liverpool – one of the physios. He took me in in the early hours of the morning and didn’t finish till late at night. He got me back strong again.

“Big shoutout to all my family and friends as well, especially my mum and dad. A massive thank you to everyone at LFC, even the fans as well for their support and love.

“I am back now and the injury is behind me.”

Special stuff.

Liverpool fans are really excited to see Elliott again after his impressive run of form before the injury.

They also got a glimpse of new signing Luis Diaz – and the 25-year-old didn’t disappoint.

Diaz provided an assist for Jota after arriving in the second half for his debut.

All in all, the perfect day for Liverpool.
