Leeds United are out of the Premier League relegation zone following their dramatic win over Liverpool.

Jesse Marsch’s side made the short trip to Anfield on Saturday evening and against all the odds, they emerged with a 2-1 victory.

Crysencio Summerville’s 89th minute goal ensured that Virgil van Dijk suffered his first Premier League defeat on home soil as a Liverpool player.

Leeds’ victory on Merseyside means they’re now up to 17th in the table and Marsch’s job as manager is now most likely safe until after the Qatar World Cup at least.

The American had cut an enormously frustrated figure in recent weeks after having to watch his team fail to reap the rewards from their positive performances.

Against Arsenal, Leeds were comfortably the better team throughout the course of the match at Elland Road, but were on the end of a 1-0 loss – Patrick Bamford missing a second half penalty.

But Marsch finally got the win he was craving on Saturday and after Summerville’s dramatic goal, he decided to celebrate in style.

We’re not quite sure what the former RB Leipzig manager was going for in truth, all we know is that the celebration goes perfectly with Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ dubbed over it.

Check it out in all of its glory…

Love that, Jesse! We can see the footage being used regularly on social media in the weeks to come.

After keeping his cool when shaking hands with Jurgen Klopp on the touchline, Marsch’s passion oozed out once again on the pitch when he greeted some of his players.

What did Marsch say after Liverpool 1-2 Leeds?

In his post-match interview with Sky Sports, the American said: “It was a good performance again and it was good that we were able to reward ourselves. My feeling is we shouldn’t be in this situation we’re in, but we are. I’ve tried to stay calm but also tried to push.

“The group is strong and they’re committed, so I’m thankful to have them. I think they stepped up big today and they’re the reason why we were able to get the win.

“I’ve believed in this group. We shouldn’t be in this situation – if you look at the metrics, we should not be in this situation, but we are and we’ve tried to maximise it at all moments. We needed something like this and now we’ve got to stay strong.

“We’re still in a process here of trying to build something that’s new and you can see in our good moments we’re really good and then in our bad moments, we look too vulnerable and naive.

“But today we reduced the bad moments and increased the good moments, and then we were able to get a result.

“Everybody’s made a big deal about me and firing me and I’m the problem, but the board has been with me.

“We’ve all been unified, we’ve stuck together so it’s always ‘we’.”
