Multiple sources report that Salernitana have chosen Fabio Liverani as their third coach of the season, having decided to sack Pippo Inzaghi.
Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia and more are confident that Liverani has agreed personal terms with the club and will put pen to paper on Sunday for a contract that runs to June 30.
The 47-year-old returns to football management after his brief 20-match spell on the Cagliari bench ended in December 2022.
His other clubs as coach were Genoa, Leyton Orient, Ternana, Lecce and Parma.
Liverani was a midfielder and Italy international, who spent much of his playing career at Lazio.
Inzaghi had only taken the Salernitana job on October 10 and oversaw three wins, four draws and 11 defeats between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
He in turn had replaced Paulo Sousa, who managed one victory, three stalemates and five losses in all competition before he was fired on October 10, 2023.
