13:07 – First a little chat with Zoltan Gera ahead of the draw. He’s done now, so off we go!
13:04 – With that out of the way it’s time for a brief explainer before things kick off …
13:01 – Here we go again, with the classic pre-draw video.
12:56 – So this is for the play-off round. Europa League group winners are already qualified for the next stage. Today we’ll see runners-up paired with the teams that finished third in their Champions League groups. They are …

And here we go!
12:07 – Ex-Real Madrid and Bayern Munich midfielder Hamit Altintop is along to help with the draw.
12:01 – Uefa will now run us through the 16 teams with some of their group stage highlights, as they do. Just in case you’ve already forgotten who qualified.
12:00 – Here we go! That wonderful music kicks us off and the ever-so-familiar Pedro Pinto is about to tell us it was the greatest group stage ever.
11:57 – Thankfully these knockout round draws tend to have a lot less preamble than the group stage, so we should know who faces who sooner rather than later. Last year’s draw took under 25 minutes from the official start time — cross your fingers for the same!
11:52 – A reminder of the teams still involved. And remember, teams from the same group cannot face each other and teams from the same nation also cannot face each other in the round of 16.
Group winners Napoli, Porto, Bayern Munich, Tottenham, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Benfica
Runners-up Liverpool, Club Brugge, Inter, Eintracht Frankfurt, Milan, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain
11:44 – Some group stage stats fun while we wait for things to begin …
Kylian Mbappé and Mohamed Salah top scored with seven goals each, while Diogo Jota and Lionel Messi provided the most assists (four each) across the six matchdays to date.
Bayern Munich were, by the way, the only team to win all six of their group games.
11:37 – There they are, the holders. Plenty of fans will not want to see this particular sheet of paper immediately after their own club’s name is read out.
11:30 – Hello again! We love a draw at OneFootball HQ and we love knockout football. What a start to the week!
