What was a surprise though was just how public the whole thing was.
Reports on Tuesday evening claimed that the Portuguese tactician had gathered his players at the training ground that afternoon and declared that Pogba will never captain them again.
Petrol was then poured on an already blazing fire when the World Cup winner was left out of Unitedâs squad completely for their game against Derby.
Footage on Sky Sports News then did the rounds earlier today showing the manager saying something to the midfielder which clearly upset the ex-Juventus man.
Well now, that reason has been revealed.
Sky have gone back over the footage, and after employing a lip-reader, have deduced that it was because of Pogbaâs Instagram post on Tuesday evening.
Mourinho infamously banned his players from posting on social media prior to games, and was clearly furious with his âŹ100m man for contradicting his instructions.
And further report in the Sun has claimed that Mourinho believed the Bleus star was laughing on his social media about the defeat to Frank Lampardâs side.
Hereâs Pogbaâs post, which was on Instagram Stories.
United go to West Ham on Saturday. Will Pogba be banished for that one as well?
