Lionesses goalkeeper closes in on Barcelona move

Manchester City and England goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck is on the verge of joining Barcelona at the end of the season, The Athletic have reported.

The 24-year-old has not played a minute this season after she suffered a stroke, but it has not impacted her vision nor brain functionality.

She is out of contract with Manchester City this summer, and has agreed a pre-contract with the Catalan giants, where she is set to replace the departing Sandra Paños between the sticks for Barça.

Roebuck will be hoping that the move, which follows the likes of Lucy Bronze and Keira Walsh in swapping England for Catalunya, will help revitalise her international career, having not been picked for an international squad since October.
