Several reports out of Argentina suggest caretaker-manager Lionel Scaloni will be offered the permanent job through the 2019 Copa América in Brazil.
According to the reports, Scaloni will also manage the Argentina U-20s in the 2019 South American Youth Football Championship in Chile.
Pablo Aimar is set to remain on Scaloni’s coaching staff.
Scaloni, who was Jorge Sampaoli’s assistant, took over for Sampaoli after he left his post by mutual consent following a disappointing round-of-16 exit in the World Cup.
Despite a revolving door of youngsters and the absence of Lionel Messi, Argentina have enjoyed decent success under Scaloni – compiling a 4-1-1 record since Russia.
However, the only blips on Scaloni’s record have come against South American powers Colombia and Brazil, while wins against Mexico (two), Iraq, and Guatemala were largely expected.
