A clip of Lionel Messi reacting to a journalist saying: ‘Let’s go for more!’ at the end of a new interview has gone viral on social media.

Messi was interviewed by Diario Ole, an Argentina sports newspaper, in Paris this week.

The 35-year-old spoke, among other things, about how it feels to have achieved his lifelong dream of winning the World Cup.

What else did Messi saying during the interview?

Messi also hinted that he may play on with Argentina until the 2026 World Cup.

The legendary forward was expected to bring the curtain down on his glittering international career following 2022’s tournament in Qatar.

But after lifting football’s most iconic trophy, Messi plans to continue representing La Albiceleste until the 2024 Copa America and possibly beyond.

"Because of age it'll be difficult to make 2026," Messi said, per Reuters. "I love playing football and while I feel like I'm in good shape and enjoying this, I'm going to keep at it.

“It seems like a long time until the next World Cup, but it depends on how my career is going."

How old will Messi be at the 2026 World Cup?

Indeed, Messi will turn 39 during the 2026 World Cup, which is due to be held in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

But the Paris Saint-Germain superstar, as we’re all acutely aware, is far from your average footballer and there’s every chance that he’ll still be physically and technically up to the challenge in three-and-a-half years’ time.

At the end of the conversation, one of the interviewers said to Messi: “Well, Leo, let’s go for more…”

Messi, looking a little taken aback, said: “There’s nothing more!”

The journalist replied: “The Champions League and Copa America are coming.”

Messi then conceded: “Yes, yes, yes… always for more.”

Let’s not forget that Messi has already won both the Copa America and the Champions League (on four occasions) during his remarkable career.

Will Lionel Messi retire soon?

Although some fans clearly feel that Messi has mentally checked out after winning the World Cup, it’s hard to believe that’s the case.

Messi is a fierce competitor who will be desperate to win the Champions League with PSG this season.

And he knows that winning the Copa America, and possibly the World Cup, again would further cement his reputation as the greatest footballer of all time.
