Barcelona have reportedly contacted Boca Juniors over the prospect of signing Argentine youngster Cristian Pavón.
Pavón is seen as one of South America’s brightest talents and managed to force his way into Jorge Sampaoli’s final World Cup squad ahead of Mauro Icardi and Javier Pastore.
AS report that Lionel Messi is firmly behind the transfer and has even urged the Barça hierarchy to secure his services for next season.
“I’ve found a new partner in him, he’s a really good player,” Messi said of Pavón after the pair featured in a 4-0 win over Haiti last month.
“He’s very quick and is different to what we have in the squad. He’s not only really quick, but his decision-making is also excellent.”
For his part, Pavón – who finished as the top assist-provider in the Superliga last season – revealed that it is a “dream” to play alongside Messi for his country.
