After a few weeks of celebration, Lionel Messi is back at Paris Saint-Germain.

The 35-year-old officially returned to the team’s training complex on Wednesday. He received an extended break after Argentina’s World Cup triumph out in Qatar.

OneFootball Videos

Messi was given a Guard of Honour by those at PSG and was also presented with a special award by the club to celebrate his achievements on the international stage.

In the footage of Messi being met with a hero’s welcome, it didn’t look as if Neymar was part of it.

The Brazil superstar’s World Cup campaign ended in heartbreak and as such, it was pondered whether he didn’t want to toast his teammate lifting the biggest prize in football over him.

But he was in attendance – just hard to spot in the footage – and that theory was completely put to bed anyway when a separate video emerged of Neymar greeting Messi inside PSG’s treatment room.

Their bromance is as solid ever, with Neymar saying to Messi: “How are you, champion of the world?”

Needless to say, the footage has gone viral on social media…

It’s an interaction we should have expected to be honest. Neymar’s love for Messi has been clear for all to see ever since their days together at Barcelona.

After Argentina’s World Cup final win over France at the Lusail Stadium, Neymar even paid tribute to the star of his nation’s bitter rivals.

He wrote on Twitter “Felicidades Hermano”, which translates in English to “Congratulations Brother”. The post was like by a whopping 2.6 million people.

Neymar and Messi are set to resume their lethal partnership at PSG next Wednesday, when the team host Angers in Ligue 1.

The two South American maestros have been in supreme form this season, each of them racking up some frankly mind-boggling numbers.

Neymar has 15 goals and 13 assists in 21 matches, while Messi’s current domestic record for 2022/23 reads 12 goals and 14 assists from just 19 appearances.

And lets not forget that fellow global icon Kylian Mbappe

Yeah good luck stopping the trio, especially after Messi and Mbappe’s respective World Cup campaigns…
