Although Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi opened up on the season on a sluggish note, he has begun to turn the tide as of late.

For one, the Argentine forward has recorded four total goal contributions in PSG’s last three Ligue 1 matches, which include the three-assist outing in the team’s away matchup with AS Saint-Etienne.

More so, Messi has now begun to exert an influence as a playmaker for the French powerhouse. He is just coming off of the keen performance against OGC Nice in league play, where he created five goal-scoring chances for teammates.

Overall, as noted by WhoScored, Messi has posted a 2.4 key passes per game average in Ligue 1 so far in the campaign, which ranks in the top spot among all PSG players. Neymar (2.3) and Angel Di Maria (2.2) rank just behind the Argentine forward in this key stat.

Whether as a central attacking midfielder or out on the right wing, Messi continues to showcase his prowess in being a keen on-ball playmaker.
