Lionel Messi: PSG star's shy reaction to fans chanting his name
Lionel Messi is lauded by many as the planet’s greatest ever footballer.
Everywhere the Barcelona icon and now Paris Saint-Germain star goes he is followed by adoring fans, many of whom, hail Messi as the reason they love the beautiful game.
However, unlike his arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi isn’t one for the bright lights of the celebrity world.
The young, shy boy who travelled to Barcelona as a 13-year-old from his home town Rosario, has never really let his fame and fortune get to his head.
Which is crazy when you think he has 356 million Instagram followers…
Instead, Messi always preferred to do his talking on the pitch, rarely speaking publicly apart from when matters really required it of him.
Whether that helped him or not in cementing his legacy as the GOAT we’ll never know, but that’s the beauty of Messi, he doesn’t need that title.
And in a recent video shared on Twitter, Messi once again showed his humble and introverted nature when PSG fans were chanting his name as he warmed up on the sidelines in the Trophee des Champions.

In the clip, Messi can be seen wandering across the touchline by the corner flag.
When the stands erupt into a chorus of “Messi, Messi, Messi”, he turns around to give them a quick wave and thumbs up before sheepishly putting his head down as if to detract attention from himself.
Towards the end of the video he can be seen almost nervously crossing his feet and rubbing his elbow because of all the special attention he was receiving.

He might be world football’s greatest ever player but your heart just melts for the guy.
The funny thing is, as soon as he crosses that white line and gets within the realms of the pitch his demeanour becomes unrecognisable.
Turning from the introverted individual seen in the clip, to a goal-hungry creative genius that we all think of when the iconic Messi comes to mind.
Unsurprisingly, PSG cruised to a comfortable 4-0 victory on the day and claimed the trophy contested between the Ligue 1 Champions and Coupe de France winners.
They’ll be hoping they can take their domestic success one step further this year and attain their very first Champions League title.
