Lionel Messi scored a wonderful outside of the foot strike as Paris Saint-Germain took on Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
The star-studded Parisien outfit are making easy worth of their group and have already secured passage to the knockout phase of the competition.
But, as ever with the club, that doesn’t mean they can’t put on a show – and first place is still up for grabs with Benfica pushing them hard.
Which meant that manager, Christoph Galtier, opted to start his superstar trio of Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
It was the Argentinian icon that struck first in the game, though.
Messi, who has been in mighty form so far this campaign, showed just why he’s won a record seven Ballon d’Or awards in his career with a beautifully crafted finish with the outside of his foot.
He just makes football look so, so easy – what a player.
It didn’t take Messi long to add another goal before the half-time whistle came, either.
With the scores at 3-1 after Mbappe and Neymar had also found the score sheet, as well as the visitors, Messi produced another piece of magic.
It was typical Messi, twisting and turning to evade defenders on the edge of the area before chopping it back onto his left and letting loose a clinical finish into the bottom corner.
Check out his second goal:
Will we ever see another like him? Not likely. He might have had a tough time of it last year in Paris, but this year, Messi is back to his scintillating best.
Not that it’s all been about Messi because Mbappe and Neymar have been pretty unstoppable themselves vs Maccabi.
