Messi and Kylian Mbappe combined to score all three of PSG’s goals, with the World Cup winner setting up the Frencham twice. Mbappe also provided the assist for Messi’s goal.

Messi has now scored 28 goals for Les Parisiens since joining the club at the start of last season, with the remainder of his 672 strikes coming in Barcelona colours.

Mbappe’s brace also saw him equal Edinson Cavani’s record as PSG’s all-time highest goalscorer with 200 goals.

PSG look to have turned a corner since posting three consecutive defeats to Marseille, AS Monaco and German champions Bayern Munich.

Messi, whose long-term future at PSG is still up in the air, has been pivotal to their revival in the last two games.

He scored a last-minute free-kick in the 4-3 win over Lille last time out before putting in another masterclass against Les Olympiens.

Christophe Galtier, who has been under increasing pressure, will breathe a sigh of relief with his team performing at the top level again, but the French manager is not out of the woods yet.

PSG are still chasing their first-ever Champions League trophy, and despite posting consecutive victories for the first time in over three weeks, failure to get past Bayern could spell trouble for Galtier.

Messi has improved his output from last season when he scored eleven goals in 34 appearances for Les Parisiens.

The Argentina international has already surpassed that tally in the Ligue 1 alone this term, posting 17 goals in 28 games.

PSG will welcome Nantes to the Parc des Princes next weekend before taking on Bayern in the Allianz Arena for a place in the Champions League quarter-final.

Galtier will be hoping his superstar attacking trident of Messi, Mbappe and Neymar are available for the crunch tie-decider on March 8.
