According to information from the Argentine press, Barcelona have contacted Boca Juniors to pursue Cristian Pavón after being motivated by Lionel Messi’s exceptional relationship with the young striker.
Pavón was been one of the best players in the Superliga this season, scoring six goals and assisting on a whopping 11 more.
His addition to the world cup squad, as well as his Messi’s endorsement, may persuade the blaugrana to purchase the 22-year-old.
“I’ve found a new partner in Pavón, he’s a really good player,” Messi said of Pavón after their 4-0 triumph over Haiti.
“In the system with which the coach decides to play, Pavón can be a very important player for the National Team because of the characteristics he has. Not only is he very fast, he makes great decisions.”
Pavón has recently described it as a ‘dream’ to play alongside Messi in the World Cup.
