Behind-the-scenes footage has emerged of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s impressive Louis Vuitton picture.
The duo broke the internet on Friday by posting a picture of themselves facing off in a game of chess with the accompanying caption: “Victory is a state of mind.”
Tens of millions of fans liked and shared the images, which proves one of the only occasions the iconic pair have ever been deliberately photographed together.
And with the timing of the release being just before the start of the 2022 World Cup, the general consensus is that the photo symbolises Messi and Ronaldo’s battle to be crowned the greatest footballer of all time.
The fact that they are playing the game of chess on the same Louis Vuitton suitcase used to hold the World Cup trophy further supports that theory.
Whilst the prospect of Argentina and Portugal meeting in the final being a real possibility only serves to whet the appetite of fans even more.
The image came as part of a marketing campaign for the world-renowned fashion brand Louis Vuitton and now the famous Italian company have released behind-the-scenes footage from the shoot.
The new footage focusses on two stars heading into the upcoming tournament.
They speak of several matters including their love for the World Cup, greatest victories and of course on the Louis Vuitton collection.
Although, fans were only treated to little snapshots of what the pair had to say, with a full version likely coming at a later point.
During the video, Messi said: “This will be my fifth World Cup. The most memorable victory was being acclaimed by the Argentinian people. It was a great victory for me.”
He also remarked: “I think it’s spectacular that trophies travel in Louis Vuitton.
“This trophy is so important; it is the greatest award of all in football. It deserves the best of the best.”
Argentina begin their World Cup challenge against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.
They will then take on Mexico and finally Poland as they bid to secure their place in the knockout phase of the competition.
Should all go to plan, the South American outfit should waltz through their group at a canter and be competing for top honours at this year’s tournament.
Meanwhile, Portugal kick off their World Cup by taking on African side Ghana on Thursday.
Their second group game will see them face Uruguay, whilst their final match will be South Korea.
Similarly to Argentina, Ronaldo and his team are expected to advance to the knockout phase of the competition despite arguably facing stiffer opposition earlier on in the tournament.
