Lionel Messi and Neymar were booed by Paris Saint-Germain fans during Sunday’s Ligue 1 clash against Bordeaux at the Parc des Princes.
PSG’s supporters expressed their anger with the two superstars following Wednesday night’s capitulation against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Kylian Mbappe, however, was cheered by PSG’s supporters when his name was read out before kick-off.
PSG were on course to qualify for the Champions League quarter-finals when Mbappe put the French side 2-0 up on aggregate towards the end of the first half at the Bernabeu.
However, a 17-minute hat-trick from Karim Benzema in the second half turned the game on its head and sent the Spanish giants through to the quarters at PSG’s expense.
It’s a result that threatens to have ramifications on various members of the PSG squad and Mauricio Pochettino, who is not expected to be the club’s manager at the start of next season.
When the teams were announced for the league clash against Bordeaux, PSG fans booed Messi and Neymar’s names but cheered Mbappe’s.

And there were loud boos for the two South American stars every time they touched the ball during the early stages of the first half.
Here’s an example from the third minute of the match:
These were the jeers for Messi when he went to take a corner:
And when Messi and Neymar both lined up to take a free-kick in the 21st minute, the loud boos from the home crowd continued.
“With Lionel Messi and Neymar standing over a dangerous free-kick, boos and whistles from PSG fans intensified and were followed by ironic cheers when Neymar’s free-kick sailed over the bar,” @GFFN tweeted. “They’re being treated like opposition players.”
Messi, who had scored just two goals in 17 league appearances for PSG prior to Sunday’s match against Bordeaux, has rarely looked himself since leaving Barcelona.
And the sound of boos from his own supporters will no doubt hurt him.
Mbappe – who else? – opened the scoring for PSG with a typically cool finish midway through the first half.
Neymar doubled PSG’s advantage in the second half but was still on the receiving end of boos from the home supporters:
