Despite being wanted by some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, Leeds United are set to land one of the most coveted 16-year-old prospects in world football.
According to Football Insider, Leeds United have agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal with Linfield forward Charlie Allen, which will cost the club a reported £300,000 fee.
The deal will initially be a scholarship deal that will turn into a full professional deal when he turns 17 in November.
Allen will initially join the U-23s and hopefully progress into Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team within his first season at the club.
Leeds have reportedly beaten the likes of Rangers and Chelsea to his signature as well as Tottenham and Manchester City – where he attended trials within the last year.
Allen made his first-team debut in Northern Ireland with Linfield at age 15 last season and joined the Northern Ireland U-17s in October for their European qualifiers.
Linfield are currently managed by former Leeds United striker David Healy.
