Lille striker Jonathan David is keen on a move to Napoli this summer even if they do not qualify for the Champions League.

It was reported yesterday that David is Napoli’s priority as a replacement for Victor Osimhen, who is departing the club in the summer transfer window. La Gazzetta dello Sport report today that the Canada international is very keen on a move to the Naples-based club and Napoli have decided to start negotiations with Lille for the player as well.

A meeting took place between would-be Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna and the player’s intermediaries. Manna has sought permission from Juventus to work for Napoli early. David has, therefore, expressed his willingness for a move to Napoli even if they do not qualify for the Champions League.

He is very interested in playing in what he believes is a more competitive league and is excited by the project at Napoli. Lille currently want €50 million to sell the striker but Napoli start with a valuation of €35 million and the belief is that the distance between them can be reduced without too much difficulty.
