RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins reports this evening that Lille have turned down an offer from Championship side Sunderland for French youth international winger Alan Virginius.

The Black Cats, where PSG youth player Édouard Michut notably spent last season out on loan, had put forward a €5m proposal. The move is being orchestrated by the English club’s majority shareholder Kyril Louis-Dreyfus – the son of the late former Marseille owner Robert Louis-Dreyfus.

The former Sochaux winger, who moved to Les Dogues last summer, is said to be focused on Lille, and is especially keen on the prospect of playing in the Conference League with the Paulo Fonseca-led side. The team won the first leg of their play-off against Rijeka yesterday. The France U20 international made 18 appearances in all competitions for the first team last year, scoring once, on top of his three strikes in five games with the reserve team.
