Tiago Djalo is reportedly facing pressure from Lille to backtrack on his agreement with Inter and join Juventus instead.
The 23-year-old has been one of the most promising young defenders in Ligue 1 in recent years.
The Portuguese’s contract with Lille will expire at the end of the season, so he would be able to join a new club on a free transfer.
The Nerazzurri have been working hard on this track for quite some time now. They managed to find an agreement in principle with the player’s entourage over a summer transfer.
However, Juventus has entered the fray in recent days and are now accelerating their attempts to hijack the operation.
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla via FcInter1908, the Bianconeri are preparing an official bid for the defender.
Juventus are willing to spend 3 million euros plus bonuses to strike a deal with Lille in January.
The French side is obviously in favor of this solution, as they prefer to sell the player, albeit for a relatively low fee, rather than lose him for free at the end of the season.
Hence, the transfer market expert claims that Lille are pushing Djalo towards Turin.
The Bianconeri will also try to convince the Portuguese by offering him an immediate spot in Max Allegri’s squad. Juve will send Dean Huijsen on loan to AS Roma, opening up a place in the team.
On the other hand, Djalo risks remaining on the bench until June if he stays at Lille who no longer intend to rely on his services.
The Sporting Lisbon youth product sustained an ACL injury that kept him out of action since March. Therefore, he’ll be eager to return to the pitch as soon as possible.
Pedulla believes these developments could prompt Inter to act switfly by trying to match Juve’s offer. However, this track isn’t viable at the moment.
