Sixth-place Ligue 1 side Lille OSC travel to the Roazhon Park to face Stade Rennais this Saturday afternoon for a clash of European contenders. Les Dogues will kickstart their Europa Conference League group stage on Wednesday against Ljubljana whilst Les Rouge et Noir will host Maccabi Haifa in the Europa League on Thursday.
Lille have won two, drawn one and lost one of their first four Ligue 1 games. Paulo Fonseca’s side is one of the most inconsistent teams in the league. Earlier in the season, Lille were humbled 4-1 by Lorient before winning at home at Montpellier. After several appearances coming off the bench before the international break, Lille’s marquee signing of the summer, France international centre-back Samuel Umtiti is in line to make his first start for Les Dogues, according to a report from L’Equipe.
The former Barcelona defender is expected to partner 17-year-old Lille youth product Lenny Yoro in Fonseca’s defense. Canadian centre-forward Jonathan David is set to start up front.
