According to Foot Mercato all three of Lille, Newcastle, and Sevilla have shown an interest in Rennes striker Gaëtan Laborde – with Les Dogues’ president Olivier Létang having made enquiries into the forward. Rennes would look for between €20-€25m for the former Bordeaux & Montpellier man.
After Rennes signed Arnuad Kalimuendo, and with interest from a number of high profile clubs, Stade Rennais could look to sell the striker, with Lille looking for another attacker if Timothy Weah’s move to Spain is completed.
Laborde has already opened his scoring account this window, having scored yesterday against Monaco in a 1-1 draw. Last season the Frenchman scored 20 goals in 47 total appearances for Rennes, impressing in the league’s second highest scoring side which included Ligue 1’s fourth top scorer, left-winger Martin Terrier. The former France U20 international almost made it to Didier Deschamp’s side last season but just missed out on a senior national team selection.
L’Équipe, Lyon made a concrete offer for the striker last summer before being outbid by Rennes at the end of the summer transfer window for around €15m plus bonuses.
