Lille: Major concerns over Ousmane Touré after injury exit in Brest
Ousmane Touré has become a source of real concern at Lille. On Sunday, August 17, during LOSC’s away match in Brest, the young defender was forced to leave the pitch early in the second half after picking up a physical knock. According to the initial statements from his coach, Bruno Genesio, the injury could be more serious than first thought.
First match of the Ligue 1 season and Lille already faces a major scare. Indeed, Ousmane Touré suffered an injury during the 3-3 draw on Brest’s turf. And to put it bluntly, his coach Bruno Genesio fears it might be quite serious.
“We fear it’s a fairly significant injury, we’re waiting on the test results,” admitted the Lille coach during his post-match press conference, visibly concerned about his player’s condition.
A starter for several matches now and delivering solid performances, Ousmane Touré is establishing himself as a key figure in Lille’s back line this season. His potential prolonged absence would be a heavy blow for Lille, who are fighting for European spots. The club has announced that medical examinations will take place at the start of the week to determine the extent of the injury. In the meantime, fans are holding their breath.
