Angel Gomes’ (24) first England call-up thrust him into the limelight earlier this month. The former Manchester United midfielder has risen to prominence over the course of the past two seasons, developing and evolving to become a more versatile and complete midfielder at Lille OSC.
However, it was a first call-up to the Three Lions squad, which was followed by an England debut, that has really caught the attention of Premier League clubs. And Lille are vulnerable to offers. Gomes’ contract with LOSC expires at the end of the current campaign, meaning that the Englishman is free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with another club in just three months time.
It is within this context that Lille are bracing themselves for offers, according to The Telegraph. A January move could be on the cards amid interest from Premier League clubs, UEFA Champions League clubs, and clubs from across Europe. Earlier this month, Manchester Evening News linked Manchester United with a move for their former academy product.
Regardless, Gomes’ future will have to be settled one way or another, either through renewing his current deal with Les Dogues, or by leaving northern France, either in January or in the summer.
