Speaking ahead of Lille’s visit to FC Nantes tomorrow evening, manager Paulo Fonseca has responded to rumours of a possible move to l’Olympique de Marseille in the summer. In a press conference transcribed by RMC Sport, Fonseca said “It’s not true what came out on Friday (regarding an alleged agreement with OM). I don’t have an agreement with any other club. I am fully concentrated on the last two matches.” His unequivocal denial aimed to quash any distractions as Lille vies for a Champions League qualification spot.

The Portuguese coach did however admit that there will be decision made following the conclusion of the current Ligue 1 season. “Afterwards, I will decide. But for now, I don’t want to talk about that; I want to focus on the Nantes match and then the Nice match,” he affirmed.

Les Dogues’ captain Benjamin André also echoed Fonseca’s sentiments, explaining “It’s like that in every club at the end of the season, there are rumours, media exposure … No dressing room has been spared (…) But we all have the same objective in mind”.

Lille, currently sat in fourth spot, are looking to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for next season. The Northern side currently sit in fourth place, three points behind Stade Brestois. Yet, Les Dogues will have to be wary of OGC Nice’s recent resurgence, who beat Le Havre last night to boost their own Champions League ambitions.
