Luis Palma is something of an enigma as a player. He’s undoubtedly got an abundance of talent. He can score some great goals and contributes his fair share of assists, but sometimes he just looks a little lost in this side.

Brendan Rodgers seems to have gone off the Honduran and has left him out of the starting line up and now out of a few squads altogether in the past few months, so clearly something is wrong there.

Maybe it’s his attitude? Or his form? Or Brendan just doesn’t rate him for the style of football the manager wants to play? Who knows, but his future at the club looks a little bleak at the moment.

There was talk of Luis leaving on loan at the end of the transfer window, but nothing materialised, so maybe there is some substance to Brendan thinking that he can’t contribute enough to the squad.

Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke are in a similar boat to the Honduran. Both were signed just after Brendan arrived, but for whatever reason both aren’t seen as suitable for a regular place in Brendan’s Celtic side. Or in Lagerbielke’s case shipped out the door altogether on loan to Dutch Eredivisie club Twente, whose women’s team are in Scotland to play Elena Sadiku’s Celtic FC Women side in the UWCL at New Douglas Park on Tuesday evening. The Green Brigade are showcasing the Green Wall so the crowd will be large and the atmosphere brilliant for Celtic’s first ever group stages match in the Women’s Champions League.

Back to Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke. That’s further proof that both players were signed without Brendan’s say so. Luis looks to have been brought in similar circumstances. Thankfully Brendan seems to have more control now, but the club’s meddling in conducting transfers has left us with players that clearly aren’t in the managers plans.

A wee afterthought, is Luis Palma possibly playing in the wrong position. An advanced midfielder might be better than him playing on the wing where he appears to lack pace.
