Ollie Cooper has worked his way up through the Swansea City academy and this season has forced his way into the first team – having made 11 appearances so far.
The midfielder has got off to a brilliant start for the Swans and scored his third goal in four games at the weekend against rivals Cardiff City.
Given he spent last season on loan with Newport County in League Two and scored just one goal, to have now established himself as part of Russell Martin’s first team is hugely impressive.
At 22 years old, things are looking bright for Cooper and Swansea captain Matt Grimes was keen to praise the impact he’s had as he told the club’s Official Media: “Honestly, Ollie has been like a new signing for us.
“He’s come back, put the hard yards in pre-season and took his opportunity in the game against Oxford in the League Cup.
“He’s a fantastic player and a good young lad and I don’t think we’ve seen the best of him.
“He’s been absolutely incredible, his work ethic, his willingness to learn and what he does for the team has been outstanding.
“He’s carrying a goal threat now which is brilliant for the lads. I can’t say enough kind words about him to be honest.
“Being a young lad, the south Wales derby are the kinds of game you want to play in being a Swansea fan growing up. He’s written his name into history.”

The Verdict
Cooper has done really well so far this season and the impact he has had on the team is amazing if not somewhat unsurprising after last season in League Two.
However, as Grimes says, he has come out this season looking like a new signing for the Swans and proved his worth to the side.
To step up to the second tier and show his quality on a consistent basis is exciting for what could be to come.
With three goals under his belt already, this could be a big season for the young player and he could elevate himself to the next level this season.
