After four years at Caen, Alexandre Mendy (30) is set to leave the Normandy coast this summer after finishing as Ligue 2 top scorer last season.

Mendy’s regularity in Ligue 2 over the course of the past few seasons has been remarkable, yet not enough to help Caen reach promotion to Ligue 1. After having netted 16 goals during the 2021-22 season and 19 goals the following one, the Guinea-Bissau striker managed to do even better last campaign, with 23 goals in 39 games across all competitions. A performance that has not only ben rewarded by the title of Ligue 2 top scorer but has also attracted interest of potential suitors.

A second offer from Al-Riyadh

According to Foot Mercato, Mendy’s journey at Caen will come to a close this summer after four prolific years in Normandy. Despite a contract running until 2026, the striker wants to take on a new challenge this summer and didn’t take part in his club’s first friendly game against Nantes. The French outlet revealed that Mendy will not travel with the team to their preseason camp in Switzerland, scheduled to start this Sunday, July 14th. His future could lie in Saudi Arabia, with Al-Riyadh having sent a second offer to Caen after the first one was declined by the Normandy side.
